Many organizations that are in the process of choosing a new advertising agency decide they want to view an agency’s creative output. Sometimes such a request is even formalized as part of a Request for Proposal. This whole subject of producing speculative creative work has become a big issue in the advertising industry. BFT International does not produce creative work prior to being commissioned to do so—for a very straightforward and logical reason: we cannot tailor a suit before we have taken all the measurements.
When this is explained it is understood. But it still does not answer the ongoing question of “What if I don’t like the agency’s creative output?” That’s a fair question. Showing creative work produced for other clients proves little. Without knowing the precise marketing brief that such work answers, all that is demonstrated is a series of ‘pretty’ pictures that are more than likely targeted at a completely different audience than the person judging them.
So at BFT we have a policy that not only provides substance to viewing some of our creative output, but also really demonstrates the real point of difference our clients experience when working with us. We are happy to present previous work for other clients but we always marry that to the original brief the work answers and, where possible (if not confidential), we show the results of the campaign.
Our major point of difference, versus most agencies, is that we are happy to commence working with you at no charge and with no commitment.
We invite you to brainstorm with us. How that is implemented is dependent upon the individual circumstances. We like to meet prospective clients on a number of occasions in ‘sleeves rolled-up’ sessions so we may (in total confidence) immediately get to grips with specific issues and marketplace problems. We find that our very broad experience often results in us having successfully answered a similar situation.
This demonstrates a real client/agency working relationship.
So what’s the next step? You are tempted to call us but is that a commitment? Certainly not. Take an hour or so out of your time and meet us and after we’ve brainstormed together we’re confident that you’ll like what you hear. On the other hand, if you don’t warm to our way of approaching marketing problems, that’s fine too. Either way, there is no cost involved.
